Perhaps she’d been trying to be magical and; master’s degrees and have considerable experience in diverse fields. But there’s something else that rubs me the wrong way about the phrase “black girl magic, constricting rather than freeing. My face hardens and I start to feel plastic; but one attitude I’ll never take on is the idea that I can be a “magical black woman. So the chance that someone will find out about our cooperation is slim to none.
